MONDAY AUGUST 16th – FRIDAY AUGUST 20th

Our first ever  Back to School festival was a complete success a needless to say the value for money fun was well received by all our customers. Prices on all activities were slashed right across the board with many activities half price. We had plenty appearances by the master himself Perkie Bear much to the delight of all the children.
Monday night kicked off with our bowling competition with each entrant receiving a FREE game of Lazer Tag. The winners of the Competition were : Margaret o Sullivan, Kathlin o Sullivan, Daniel Wise Snr and Jnr.  See Picture below.
Tuesday saw the First heat of Lazer Tag’s Battle of The Titans with 10 people going through to our semi- finals on Friday.(Action Pictures below).
Wednesday proved to be a huge success,  as people arrived in droves for our special wristband night. €10 per person or €8 per person for a family of 3 or more gave you your wristband for unlimited games of Bowling, Lazer Tag, Blackbeards Playcentre, Kiddy Rides , Derby racer and snooker and pool.  Let’s just say that the horses in the Derby racer have earned a well deserved rest – they were running all night. Due to the popularity of the event, we extended our finishing time by half an hour to accommodate everyone for all the activities.
The atmosphere around perks for this week was electric and brought a great buzz to the place and even the staff appreciated the merriment. It certainly lightened the days. Disco dancing galore and fun filled days – this will definitely take place again.

The winners of our Disco Competition were Alannah, Leah and Ciara but of course noone went away empty handed.

Perkie Bear is making a few guest appearances this weekend between 18th and 20th of June. He will be attending the Summer Show in Green fields Ballincollig for a few hours and he will have a few goodies to give all his young visitors to the Perks Stand. He will also have some vouchers for his adult visitors too, so come along and pay him a visit.

Fota house are hosting a Teddy Bears Picnic on Sunday 2oth July and of course the Biggest Bear of them all can’t wait to go. Perkie will be their between 3.3o and 5pm to spend time with all his little bears and of course all his little fans. Hope to see everybody at some stage over the weekend and i believe we’re in for a scorcher!

A family fun festival is taking place in Youghal from 16th to 18th of July. The majority of the activities are FREE, taking place at different venues around the town. In order to raise some of the funds to go towards paying for the festival , a fundraiser was held in Perks on Thursday 28th May. The evening proved to be a great success and everyone had a great night. Nibbles and treats were provided on the night and many people went away with lots of prizes. We would like to thank everybody who took part and also those who donated prizes, for their time and effort given. The highest scoring team on the night were the fire brigade who kindly returned their cash prize to aid fundraising. Any proceeds that are made from the festival will be donated to Childline so all help is greatly appreciated.

THE GHOSTBLASTER SAGA.

We are glad to say that the time is nearly upon for the bloodsucking vampire “Dracula” to arrive at Perks. Our “Ghostblaster” kicks off with a haunted house, home to Dracula, Frankenstein, the rattling bones of skeleton ghosts from the past, the bride in her cofffin, the hanging hunchback, the dreaded caveman and moans and groans from the underworld, lights and frightening sounds to wake the dead, all set in it,s own graveyard with tombstones of Dracula’s victims. And your mission should you choose to accept it,is to blast these demons and save our world.

Book 1 hours Bowling and the Communion /Confirmation child

PERKIE GOES TO SEA

To celebrate some of the events of Perkies coming 21st Birthday, he went to sea on Sunday aboard   The Seahunter deep sea angling boat. This boat is a 42ft interceptor with full seating inside a centrally heated cabin. It also has an electric toilet, microwave  and hot and cold drinks at your disposal. Reef and wreck fishing are a speciality and it is equipped with a 3D Simrad Olex Sonar System for superb Wreck Fishing. You can fish for sharks when they are in season or take an evening trip for Mackerel and Conger Eels.
Seahunter is licensed and insured for both fishing and diving. Learn to dive with fully qualified and experienced divers. and for advanced divers there are more than 25 wrecks for you to explore. Operated year round out of Youghal and Cork Harbour.

As we were saying Perkie went out to sea on Sunday to go fishing and got himself stuck in the door of the electric flush loo and it took all his other fellow fishermen to pull him out. After this Gavin, the skipper of Seahunter, cooked him up a feed of fish and chips and poor old Perkie spent the trip home head hanging over the side. And Gavin Tivy, Skipper, advised Perkie to get some seasick tablets next time he’s going out to fish or else go easy on eating the catch. Also there was alot of ice-cream in the fridge on board which disappeared, and it is strongly rumoured that ice-cream, fish and chips don’t mix too well when a Bear is at Sea!!!

PERKIE BEAR GOES MISSING

Don’t worry everyone it was only temporary. Perkie Bear visited the circus last week and never returned home after. We soon found out that he decided he was going to join the circus. So off he went with them. He had to help them take down the Big Top before they got on the road, feed the animals and walk the dogs. Of course the dogs were not too happy about been walked by a bear, they tried to bite Perkie many times. The circus thought that Perkie would make a great clown so he got working on his act straight away. First of all they couldn’t gat the make- up to stay on Perkies fur and there was no hat big enough for his head. They tried to fire Perkie out of a Cannon but Perkie, after eating all the Catch on Seahunter last week wouldn’t even fit into it. He fell from the tight rope and he dropped everything when he tried juggling. perkie finally realised that the Circus wasn’t for him and that his home truly was at Perks Funfair.

PERKIE’S VISIT TO BLACKPOOL.

Perkie Bear visited Blackpool Shopping Centre last week. He was delighted to meet all his little fans again. He had vouchers for everyone and a coluring competition for the little ones. It was so hot last week that he spent alot of time filling up on delicious creamy ice-cream. He can’t wait to go back again. He caught up on some shopping but had a hard time trying to get a pair of shoes in his size.
His next adventure takes him to the Summer Show in Greenfields Cork  from 18th to 20th of June. He’s busy trying to think of what he’s going to wear and what he’s going to give everyone. He hopes to see alot of familiar faces there. He is quite tired after his few days in Blackpool, so he’s off to catch up on some well deserved sleep.
